I
designed a Power Point presentation to better explain the process
I used in designing "NYC Artist Studio in the Aftermath" of
the virtual house.
My presentation dealt with several different aspects of the creative group and individual process. Collaboration was a main topic when working in a group setting. We all decided that people working toward a common goal while utilizing each others strengths was our groups definition of collaboration. After discussing the benefits and downfalls of this process, we were able to define goals for the project and divide assignments among the group. The purpose of our project is to describe how people are inscribed in spaces and what their embodied experiences are like. Our house is composed of thoughts, issues, and projects that will be the building block for future technology classes. |

| I
chose to include some of my projects from the semester in my virtual room.
Our class did a series of self-sculptures based on how the Internet would
describe us as people. I did a screen print to represent myself. By using
computer programs I was able to manipulate my appearance. The Internet used
my qualities to get a vague identity of me, but like my sculpture, it was
only partially real. This project dealt with seeing oneself, the idea of
desired self, and how others see you. |

My
short movie Invasion is a film about children, how they interact, and
how they act on the playground. The main idea focuses on how a child,
no matter how big or small, can lose all inhibitions on the playground
and completely invade the space.
In my mind, our virtual house is based on the body. The body is composed of information and all of the answers can be found within. Since bodies are both biological and prosthetic in this day and age, the social constructions of them change from person to person. Our house will continue to evolve depending on who is working on it and how long the project runs. |
