Beginnings of the Cyberfeminist House

Karen Keifer-Boyd

Reflections On the way home from a visit to Texas Tech University's Virtual Reality Theatre in the High Performance Computer Center, I began to image what I would do if I had access to this technology that could create "stereo" 3-D interactive spaces. I wanted what I did to make a difference in improving the situation of those that have been "othered." I wanted the space that I create to present an alternative to what is perceived as normal. Here, I felt was a chance to create a world that would question how we are inscribed in spaces while opening the door to radical revisions in which "laws" of physics and society had multiple possibilities not solely based on "man" as the norm.
