Spring 2002

A note from jan jagodzinski, JSTAE editor

Dear Caucus Members,

There is a 60% chance that the journal will be ready for distribution for
the Miami conference. This year it has been particularly difficult to
gather together a collection of articles for our 22nd volume. It is
difficult to assess why. Perhaps it was the topic that was inadequately
formulated, or perhaps it was the aftermath of 9/11.

The articles thus far have a community theme about them, and they
cover a very wide range of topics-all the way from classroom life to
artist's statements, to social issues concerning the urban environment.
Perhaps the biggest surprise has been a shift to media, which I would like
to raise in Miami as a possible direction for the journal.
I am still waiting on the front cover design, a number of changes
to essays and picture files. Right now, it seems as these outstanding
concerns will not be cleared up to meet the printing deadline of March
first, but I am still hopeful.

Sam Filice
Social change will not come to us like an avalanche down the mountain.
Social change will come through seeds growing in well-prepared soil - and
it is we, like the earthworms, who prepare the soil.
